hosting

To provide it's specialized rural exchange, IRE (& it's partners) depend upon the commitment of host families, farms, nurseries, wineries and agricultural enterprises and colleges world wide.

IRE often seeks keen hosts (family or corporate) to provide trainees with ~

  • A worthwhile training experience by providing a variety of learning tasks
  • An involvement in family and community activities
  • Encouragement and assistance to improve their language skills where English is not a trainee's "home tongue"
  • Suitable food and accommodation, including a separate bedroom or detached accommodation
  • A training allowance set by the IRE Board, plus board and keep, and
  • 3 weeks unpaid leave after the normal 24 week placement
Before being accepted trainees are carefully screened for their practical experience and/or level of training. Care is then taken in matching up the needs and personalities of both the trainee and hosts in the placement process.

Trainee orientation seminars are conducted a week after arrival to inform and prepare participants for what is usually "the experience of a lifetime".

A supervisor normally visits after about 4 weeks to assist participants achieve their goals and resolve any difficulties.

IRE has 4 intakes each year ~ March, July, September and October.
