To provide it's specialized rural exchange, IRE
(& it's partners) depend upon the commitment of host families,
farms, nurseries, wineries and agricultural enterprises and colleges
world wide.
| IRE often seeks keen hosts (family or corporate)
to provide trainees with ~ |
| |
- A worthwhile training experience by providing a variety
of learning tasks
- An involvement in family and community activities
- Encouragement and assistance to improve their language
skills where English is not a trainee's "home tongue"
- Suitable food and accommodation, including a separate
bedroom or detached accommodation
- A training allowance set by the IRE Board, plus board
and keep, and
- 3 weeks unpaid leave after the normal 24 week placement

Before being accepted trainees are carefully
screened for their practical experience and/or level of training.
Care is then taken in matching up the needs and personalities of
both the trainee and hosts in the placement process.
Trainee orientation seminars are conducted a week
after arrival to inform and prepare participants for what is usually
"the experience of a lifetime".
A supervisor normally visits after about 4 weeks
to assist participants achieve their goals and resolve any difficulties.
IRE has 4 intakes each year ~ March, July, September and October.
