insurance
Good quality travel insurance is essential for
anyone traveling from their home.
IRE sees 2 areas are important to be sure trainees are well protected
~
- "All trainees on IRE programs into or out of Australia
are to purchase comprehensive travel insurance before leaving
their home country"
- "All Australian IRE hosts are to have "workers
compensation" type cover by law & IRE understands all
partner programs hosting Australian trainees will ensure their
hosts have similar protection if it is not required by law"
going OS
Outgoing Trainees need travel insurance to protect you the whole
time you are away, when working and travelling in other countries
& for some items not included in the host paid cover. Please
contact IRE for further information specific to your travel plan.
coming to Aus
Many Western European & N American partners recommend a "home
country" insurance. Check with the IRE Partner in your country
first to make sure you have an approved insurance, otherwise IRE
will purchase insurance on your behalf.
Contact IRE or it's partner with any questions you have about travel
insurance.
cars
If you buy a car what you need to do for insurance varies by country.
Talk to hosts or host program at seminar or local police or insurance
people in the host country.
There are 3 areas to consider ~ 3rd party person (if you hit a person),
3rd party property (if you hit another car) and vehicle (if your
car gets damaged). In Aus & some other countries the 1st is
automatic in the car license but (in N.America) check as you may
need to buy it separately. The 2nd is also most important but you
often have to buy it separately from an insurance company. You are
crazy to drive without it. The 3rd is often a high price for people
under 25 & more than many old trainee cars are worth!!
