IRE offers a great way for you to travel and
see the world, via our network of world wide partners - arranging
places for you in rural industries abroad.
IRE Placements are different to the normal employer-employee
relationship, as you live and work with a family enterprise in a
rural community. This work experience - cultural exchange allows
you not only to work in a different environment and learn different
techniques, but to immerse yourself in a different culture and make
friends for life. You choose what, when and where!

Canada, USA, Ireland, United Kingdom, The Netherlands,
Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Norway and France
placement categories:
The type of placements IRE and our partners can
provide will depend on the country, the type of place, the time
of year & your level of experience or training. Most placements
are family based but some are independent living often with other
youth.
- Agriculture: broad-acre or more intensive systems for
crops, beef, dairy, sheep or pigs. Placements can be made in USA,
Canada, Denmark, Germany, Norway, France, Holland, Ireland, Sweden,
Switzerland or the UK.
- Agri-home: working inside the home and out on the farm.
- Horticulture: nursery, fruit, vegetables, flowers and
turf management. Placements can be made in USA, Holland, Ireland,
Switzerland or UK.
- Equine: Breeding, racing, show jumping & eventing,
cutting & ranch places. Placements are usually in the USA,
UK or Ireland.
- Apiary: Queen bee and honey production. Placements are
available in USA and France.

requirements:
Different countries may have special requirements, but generally
you should:
- Be Single
- 18 - 30 years of age
- Fit, healthy and open to new ideas and cultures
- Have at least one year's practical experience in your placement
choice
- Have a driver's license for at least a year & an International
Driving Permit
- Hold comprehensive travel insurance for the duration of your
trip.
(IRE can arrange this insurance for you at discounted rate.)
Time of departure is flexible, but most Aussies
leave late March to fit in with the Northern hemisphere.
Placements are usually for 5 - 7 months in one
country, but this can depend on season, climate, industry etc. It
is possible to have 2 different places in two different regions
or countries in 12 months or longer, allowing you to see more of
the world, meet different people and experience different cultures.
Shorter placements can also be available, it is up to you!
Visa's can be up to 18 months in the US and up
to one year in Canada and Europe.
With IRE and our partners, you get complete assistance
with the application and visa process, a screened and carefully
matched placement, airport meeting, orientation, supervision and
support as needed throughout your stay. Your host will provide you
with on the job training and a family environment and will involve
you with the local community.
